Dr. Robin Lindsey, Senior Pastor

Dear Members and Friends of the Dalton First United Methodist Church -

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord!

I give thanks to my God always as I remember you in my prayers.  I especially remember your openess to Kathy and me as we moved into the Parsonage and the Senior Pastor Office at Dalton First United Methodist Church in late June.  Almost none of you knew us, yet you opened your hearts.  For that, I thank God for you as I remember you in my prayers.

A short time back, I referred to the book by Bishop Robert Schnase entitled, Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations.  If I may return to the book, he suggests these five practices:

    1.    Radical Hospitality
    2.    Passionate Worship
    3.    Intentional Faith Development
    4.    Risk-Taking Mission & Service
    5.    Extravagant Generosity

Dear Lord, let Dalton FUMC demonstrate radical hospitality, passionate worship, development of their faith, stepping out in mission & service nd generous hearts.  Let us be the church in our community and wherever we travel.  Let others see Christ in us.  In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Our congregation has been invited to the first annual community Thanksgiving service.  The inaugural service will be at First Presbyterian Church next Tuesday, November 24, at 6:30 p.m.  Kathy & I plan to be there and invite you to join us.

Kathy is beginning to work hard on decorating the parsonage for our Open House on Sunday, December 13 from 2:30-5:00 p.m.  We don't expect everyone because schedules are so busy during this season.  However, if you can, we look forward to your visit.

Special thanks to Rev. Phil Schroeder of North Georgia Conference Conncetional Table for speaking at our Laity-Led Sunday.  I heard he did a great job.  Also special thanks to Lowell Kirkman, Lay Leader here at Dalton First UMC, for putting this service together.  We staff are so thankful for the incredible laity here at our church.

As Kathy and I rode around during the weekend, we were struck by the beauty of the countryside right around our own area.  Open your eyes today and see the beauty of God's creation, right in your own backyard.

God bless - See you Sunday! (to respond to Dr. Lindsey click here)
