Dear Members and Friends of the Dalton First United Methodist Church -
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ or Lord!
I give thanks to my God always as I remember you in my prayers. I especially remember your compassion and empathy. When one among us dies, those families have expressed their gratitude at the love and support they have received from you. I give thanks for your compassion and empathy.
The other day I read an anonymous quote, "Jesus Christ wants disciples and not admirers. An admirer is only the cheap edition of a disciple.
"Precious Lord, I give you thanks for the privilege of serving you. I confess Lord, that there have been times when I have promoted myself as a disciple and follower of you when I have only been an admirer. Forgive me Lord, and bless those who may have been hurt by my actions. Let me become a true disciple of yours, dear Lord. I know my weakness; I know that without your Spirit I cannot become who you want me to be. I give thanks that you freely offer that Spirit, Lord. Now give me the wisdom and discernment to use it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
On Wednesday morning, I am excited to be attending a brunch for Pastors at the Christian Heritage School. Kathy and I have driven by, but this will be my first visit. I received great invitations written by our members who are students there. Looking forward to seeing you.
Kathy and I continue to enjoy our wonderful Neighborhood Meetings. We have only two left (one today and one next Monday). Last night we laughed, learned about neighbors and enjoyed great food and hospitality. If we haven't seen you, hope to see you at one of the last two. Call the office for details.
The Power of Respect: Benefit from the Most Forgotten Element of Success. Many of you know that Ms. Norville was raised in Dalton and a member of Dalton First UMC. Her family is still here. While I am just starting to read the book, I saw her interviewed about it the other day. On that interview alone, I wholeheartedly recommend the book. Respect is an issue that has become more and more dominant in my thinking not only in reference to the Christian Faith and the Church but also politics, sports and community life.
I joined the modern age a few months ago by joining Facebook. if you are a member I would love to connect with you.
Don't you just love being a member of Dalton First UMC?
God bless - See you Sunday!
In Christ,
Dr. Robin L Lindsey
