Dear Members and Friends of the Dalton First United Methodist Church -
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord!
I give thanks to my God always as I remember you in my prayers. I especially remember your excitement and energy for ministry. As I experience Dalton First UMC in a variety of settings, I am constantly amazed at the depth of your devotion to Christ and the energy you bring to your ministries. We have great people! Praise the Lord! Thank you Lord!
I ran across a beautiful prayer by the great Dr. William Barclay about two years ago:
"O God, grant that today
I may not disappoint any friend;
I may not grieve any loved one;
I may not fail anyone to whom I have a duty;
I may not shame myself.
Grant that today
I may do my work with honesty and fidelity;
I may take my pleasure in happiness and purity.
Grant that today
I may lead no one astray;
I may not make goodness and faith harder for anyone.
Help me today
to be a help and example to all;
to bring strength and encouragement wherever I am:
Through Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen."
This Sunday is Consecration Sunday. We are honored to have Dr. Malone Dodson speaking at the 8:30am service and also at both 11:00am services (the remiX service will be by remote as we did last week). Please call the church office to make your reservation for our luncheon. There is no charge for the meal. Pledge cards will be located in the bulletin. If you would like one early or will not be able to attend and would like one sent to you, please call us at the office.
Also, don't forget the Friendship House Spaghetti Supper on Friday and the Family Spiritual Life Retreat on Saturday. Call the office or check out our web site for more details. Also the Neighborhood Meetings are continuing. Kathy and I have enjoyed each one of them. We look forward to being in your neighborhood.
As September rolls along, Kathy and I are continuing to enjoy learning about our community and the surrounding area. On Friday we drove around some, taking Houston Valley Road and East Nickajack Road after starting out at Rocky Face. Beautiful scenery and homes. On Saturday, we traveled down to the Pine Log Arts and Crafts Festival. A beautiful day.
In Christ,
Dr. Robin L Lindsey
